Nikola Tesla, was born in Smiljan, province of Lika (Austria-Hungary) at midnight on July 9/10, 1856. Inventor, electrical engineer, scientist, holder of over 700 patents, creator of Alternating Current and close friend of Samuel Clemens. This brilliant man devised engineering feats which benefit and effect how you and I live today. While a large amount of data is available on Nikola Tesla, a great deal is missing about his work. Rumors abound concerning Tesla's ability to tap into power sources which require no fuel expenditure. Please look through the links and let me know what you think |
B.A. Behrend, AIEE annual meeting, New York City, May 18, 1917.
I leave it to you to determine this mans contribution to humanity!

"If Edison had a needle to find in a haystack, he would
proceed at once with the diligence of the bee to examine straw after straw
until he found
the object of his search.'' ----- "I was a sorry witness of such doings,
knowing that
a little theory and calculation would have saved him ninety per cent of his
labor.''

In his successful efforts to persuade people that alternating current was safe, he held dramatic demonstrations with his coils. Though alternating current -- such as that from a wall socket, can be deadly -- the current from Tesla's coils had a very low amperage, so he could casually stand among the sparks and let a million volts of high-frequency current pass harmlessly around his body. Tesla sits here at the base of one of his coils in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he conducted a great many experiments dealing with the transmission of electric power through the air. | |
|
His most dramatic achievement was the Tesla coil. As part of his experiments in transmitting power through the air, Tesla built a coil near Colorado Springs, Colorado, that sent sparks 100 feet long into the sky from a metal ball atop a 200-foot-high tower. At one point his experiments actually shut down the city of Colorado Springs and terrified the citizens. |

This tower was built on the east coast to test Tesla's capability to send power
through the air. It has been suggested that the famous Tunguska event in the
soviet states
was a direct result of the firing of this device.
Tesla Wireless and the Tunguska Explosion Go here to read about the theory that Tesla tested his ultimate weapon and destroyed Tunguska by accident. Tunguska This is the Tunguska home page. As you can see there is no mention of Tesla. |
